The Short-Snouted Breeds Foundation - For the Preservation of Short-Snouted Dog Breeds
At Stichting Kortsnuiten Blijven Bestaan, we are dedicated to the preservation and future of brachycephalic dog breeds with an FCI pedigree in the Netherlands. We believe that responsible breeding, with a focus on health and welfare, is key to protecting these special breeds.
Our Mission Our aim is to preserve brachycephalic dog breeds with an FCI pedigree, where health tests are an integral part of breeding. For us, purebred means that the parent animals and offspring are registered in a studbook recognised by the Council for the Management of Kennel Matters.
Why is this important? Sadly, the future of these breeds is under pressure due to strict laws and regulations, partly influenced by one-sided reporting and anti-animal activist groups. We want to present a fair and balanced picture of brachycephalic dogs and the responsible breeders who are committed to their welfare.
What do we do? Our volunteers — short-nosed dog lovers and breeders — work daily on the Spread with honest information and breaking down misunderstandings. We do this by:
- Organising awareness campaigns across the country.
- Attending events to put our beloved breeds in the spotlight.
- Sharing knowledge on responsible breeding and the role of health testing.
